A bit more about Notes from the Shire…
I thought a good place to start this blog would be with an explanation of why I started it in the first place. My husband and I relocated about a year ago from Glasgow to the countryside, a move that we had thought we would do in another five years or so time but due to work it happened sooner! Neither of us are from the West Coast originally but we absolutely loved living in Glasgow. We lived in the West End, removed enough from the student part not to feel too old but close enough to enjoy the buzz of having a plethora of entertainment and foody options on our doorstep. We are both country kids at heart so it came as a surprise how much we loved this big (for Scotland) city. Anyway both of our work situations changed and we were able to make the decision to move to the countryside and commute for work (sadly no longer to Glasgow!) I should probably say at this point we weren’t married, we weren’t even engaged but then within the space of one year we had relocated, got engaged, started new jobs, got a mortgage (eventually), bought a house (more on that later), planned a wedding, got married, went on honeymoon and started renovating. Phew! Quite a year and in that year we had so many experiences that I thought this would be a great place to document them and share some of the lessons we learned from that time.
So what will this blog be about? This is a blog about all the things I love and enjoy doing, there will be bits of travel, fitness tips, recipes I love making, organisational tips we’ve learned from living in an old, small cottage, career thoughts for the (late) 20 something girl, wedding planning tips and any great products I come across and think you just have to know about. In short it will be notes from my life in the Shire – but that was just a bit too long for a blog title!
I hope you stick around and enjoy!
