If you’ve followed this blog for a while or even just glanced at the theme of a few posts then you will know that I love to update our home’s decor to reflect the season. This post is all about adding Spring and Easter decor touches to brighten up your home and welcome in the new season.
I absolutely love spring so most of the updates I make are just bunches and bunches of beautiful tulips, freesias, irises, ranunculus and daffodils! However I do like to get a bit crafty and make new displays so here are a couple of things I have done.
If you read my post on Christmas decor for your home then you’ll know that I like to add Wintery touches before the Christmas decor even comes out. This year along with a few wreaths and winter bouquets I added some very cute Robin cushions from our local supermarket – a handy find! However, come Spring I was on the hunt for something a bit more seasonally appropriate and found these lovely hare cushions in Matalan. A bargain of a price, really comfortable and a great match with our sofas. Plus the light colours behind the hares are very Springy/Summery, happy shopper!
One of the first displays I made for our house I totally forgot to photograph which is annoying but is easy to describe. In my little crate tray, seen in this Autumn display here, I placed a couple of cheap bulb pots from the supermarket, mini daffodils and some lovely hyacinths, into two white/cream plant pots we had in the house. To add dimension I then leaned a horseshoe from our wedding (from my mother/sister-in-law’s horse) against the pots and voila instant Spring feeling! This picture shows an update on that display when the flowers went over, I added a bright vase to the tray with a sign from our wedding and the horseshoe, a week later I added some silly bits for Easter (from last year’s trip to the Pound Store!)
My next Spring/Easter decor purchase came from scouring our £1 shop. Pound shops often have some really adaptable pieces that you can posh up and make a real feature. For £3 I bought a bag of “Easter moss”, some polystyrene eggs and a couple of “nests”. Using paint I had lying around the house I painted the eggs blue and silver and was really pleased with the results. I then popped the moss into the same vase that I use to create the “winter scene” (see my Christmas post), arranged some of the now dry eggs and put the larger of the two nests on the top with some more of the eggs. This adds some real Spring cheer to our entry way and was an economical addition to our decor.
The final touch, for me, is always to fill the house with vase after vase of fresh flowers, with daffodils just £1 (or less) a bunch in every supermarket it is easy and economical to do. I just love this time of year!
