Weekend in the Shire – Glitter print tutorial

Glitter quote framed print. Make your own. #Crafts #LoveArt |NotesFromTheShire.com

I hope you have all had a great weekend! It was another super busy weekend in the Shire. Including date night on Saturday, we hadn’t had a date night in a while so we went to one of our favourite restaurants and had a great laugh together, including running back to the car in the rain trying to share our tiny umbrella, lots of fun! You can read my whole post on dating (your husband!) here. Last weekend I updated an old wardrobe by painting it with chalk paint, it has had a great effect and really brightened up the room. This weekend I decided to make some artwork for our bedroom. I’d had the idea of having a quote print and then quite fancied something with a bit of shimmer so out came the Christmas crafting supplies aka the glitter and glue! You can see the finished product above and below I will show you the step by step guide I took to make it!

Step 1: Pick your font and your quote. I chose Sofia font which was one of the fonts I used in designing all our wedding stationary as well. It’s a lovely romantic font but also very clear and legible.

Step 2: Pick your paper size and colour. This was an A3 frame so I bought some cream card from a local stationer in A3.

Step 2: Type up your quote and print it out. You may need to experiment with size until you can get your quote to fit properly. If it’s a longer quote mix up the sizes a bit too.

Step 3: Cut your words out and lie them out on a table, then place your card over them so that you can trace around the font (unless you are very good at free hand). If your card is thick (like mine was) you may need to hold everything up on a window to trace it…

Step 4: Use your PVA/craft glue to fill in the letters that you have traced.

Step 5: Shake your glitter over the words (you don’t have to be too precise) and then pick the card up and tap it to remove any glitter that isn’t on the glue.

Step 6: Repeat step 5 until all your words are filled in and then leave to dry.

Step 7: Clean the glass on your frame and then place your creation in the frame!

Step 8: Proudly display your artwork! Mine lives by my side of our bed to add some height to my bedside table.

I was left with a few bits of glitter around the page but didn’t mind as it adds a little bit of sparkle to the blank space.

If you have any fun and quick weekend projects that have added a bit of sparkle to your home let me know about them in the comments section below, feel free to leave links to your own blogs too.
